Reflection

It was a perfect experience this time as our team has a perfect teamwork. During the pre-production period, my team and I had already figure out clear role based on our own past experience, like JC as DOP, Ching as Producer, Tara and Jessica as Gaffer and Audio Mixer and I am the Director and Script Writer. In the pre-pro meeting, we all agreed that a chasing scene assignment do not only require technical showcase, but a meaningful idea or two too. It therefore we decided to tell a story about two young adults in the social movement period of time in 2019 and how could they recover from the pain afterwards. The challenge is for us to decide and to give up some stubborn and finalise a good script, we thus choose a way that is more practical and realistic: ‘Can we execute this idea?’.

During production, there are numerous difficulties for us. As we wish to use the Bethanie Chapel as one of our location on screen, the complicated paper work for applying to book the Chapel troubled us a lot, luckily Renee and Michael shared their experience to us which make the idea worked. But in the shooting day, we do not know that the electricity sockets have to be book separately, thus the security refused us to get electricity supply, we could not light ups our equipment! With the help from Technical Raymond Wong, he provided us some V-mount battery at last which we would like to give a great appreciation on. Our main scene – the base of the two character require knotty lighting and art decoration to make a Common Room in the Campus into our imaginated scene: we thus collect used glass bottles from friends and restaurants nearby to create a better atmosphere.

Lastly, it was an unforgettable production for me as this assignment is the first one for me to lead a main role in the team. Thanks for a good communication in our team to solve problems at anytime. Solutions is always much more than problems!
